Yankees' Pettitte to make rehab start in Double-A
CBSSpo Andy Pettitte will make a rehabilitation start for the Yankees Double-A farm team at Trenton on Wednesday night.
The 38-year-old left-hander has not pitched in a game since July 18 because of a strained left groin. He threw a bullpen session before Mondays game against Baltimore.
"I feel good," he said.
Pettittes rehab start will come in the Thunders Eastern League playoff opener against New Hampshire. Yankees manager Joe Girardi projected he will throw four innings or 65 pitches, whichever comes first.

A-Rod back
CBSSpo Alex Rodriguez was back in the New York Yankees starting lineup Sunday, batting cleanup and playing third base in their series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Rodriguez hasnt played since Aug. 20, though his left calf was bothering him before that.
The All-Star slugger walked through the clubhouse nearly four hours before the first pitch and took batting practice in the indoor cage. Manager Joe Girardi didnt post the lineup with A-Rods name on it until about 90 minutes before the game.
"We just felt he was ready," Girardi said. "We feel hes healed and hes ready to go."

A-Rod, Pettitte close to rejoining Yankees
CBSSpo Injured stars Alex Rodriguez and Andy Pettitte are getting closer to rejoining the New York Yankees.
Pettitte threw 50 pitches in a simulated game Saturday morning at Yankee Stadium and said he had no problems with the strained left groin thats kept him out since July 19.
"I didnt feel anything," Pettitte said. "It was great. A step in the right direction."
One of the batters he faced was Rodriguez, sidelined with a strained left calf. The slugger said hes close to being ready to play and will meet with Yankees staff to determine if hell come off the disabled list Sunday, the first day hes eligible.

Nyjer Morgans wild week has landed him an eight-game suspension, one of nine punishments handed out Friday by Major League Baseball following a brawl between Washington Nationals and Florida Marlins.
MLB suspended Nationals outfielder Morgan and fined him an undisclosed amount for three separate incidents over the past week. The penalty is in addition to a seven-game suspension he received Aug. 25 that is currently under appeal.

Nats transfer Strasburg to 60-day disabled list
CBS The Washington Nationals transferred rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday.
Strasburg, the hard-throwing No. 1 pick in last years draft, will have the reconstructive elbow operation known as "Tommy John surgery" on Friday. He finished his rookie season with a 5-3 record and 2.91 ERA.
Washington also elevated shortstop Danny Espinosa to the 40-man roster from Triple-A Syracuse and recalled catcher Wilson Ramos from Syracuse.
Espinosa had 22 home runs and 25 stolen bases in the minors this season.
